LEAN is not a supporting function or an extra task that needs to be done; rather, it is the way we do everything. At VINCI Facilities, LEAN thinking is not only embedded into our processes and practices, it is our culture. Our LEAN Framework for Excellence is centred around our clients’ needs. We use our LEAN tools, methodologies and behaviours to improve the services we deliver.

By understanding our clients’ priorities and focus areas, we collaborate with them at every stage to create a strategic VMOST plan for the project, detailing the Vision, Mission, Objectives, Strategies and Tactics. We then harness the collective power and energy of our team to deliver on this plan, with everyone understanding their contribution and delivering right first time.

Our LEAN approach is versatile. In 2018, we were asked to support wider parts of Lincolnshire County Council and embed this approach within Adult Social Care. This work saw us recognised as Finalists for the 2018 PFM Partners in Corporate Award. This is testament to the applicability of our LEAN approach.

Our LEAN Management Framework

Our LEAN Management Framework consists of eight core blocks, all designed to tap into the potential of every member of the team, to excite them about continuous improvement, and to deliver value to our clients. The combination of these building blocks creates an environment where everyone is focused on your organisation and what they can do to support you in achieving your objectives. Be it daily repairs and maintenance or strategic development activities, we create One Team that is focused on creating additional value for you.

Project Strategic Plan (VMOST)

The project compass, with tactics and objectives clearly detailed, guides our team to delighting the client.

Information Centres (Performance Boards)

The project thermometer, displaying project performance against key performance indicators, keeping everyone focused on the measures that matter and used as a focal point for team meetings.

Team Meetings

Regular succinct shop floor briefings that provide the opportunity for the team to review their performance and agree actions.

Sharing Ideas

Suggesting ideas and opportunities to eliminate waste. Using our Lessons Learned app to share these ideas with the wider business to maximise their value.

Regular 1:1s

Focused time for everyone on the team to review their individual performance and contribution to the project.

Structured Problem Solving

Using structured problem-solving techniques, such as “5 Whys”, to get to the root cause of a problem, and to focus efforts on eliminating the causes of a problem, rather than the symptoms.

Management Walks

Our management teams going out to where the work is taking place and engaging with our front line colleagues to understand their challenges and support them in resolving issues.
